Vincentian shot, killed in New York

A Layou man who resided in Brooklyn, New York, was shot and killed about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Benedict ‘Benny’ Sam, a cab driver, was shot at least five times in the chest on Schenectady Avenue near St John’s Place in Crown Heights during an argument.{{more}}

Sam, 46, was gunned down at a Brooklyn block party, which was being held to celebrate Memorial Day. The married father of two was found lying in the road by firefighters returning from a run.

Reports are that paramedics worked on him before taking him to Kings County Hospital, where he died about 2 a.m.
