Fifty-year-old Pierre was injured on Canouan on May 14, when a loading basket fell on him, causing spine and brain damage.

Brother of Pierre, Lloyd Thomas, told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday that from reports, two other workers managed to escape, but his brother was not so lucky.

Thomas, who described his brother as very hard worker explained that Pierre worked as a mason.

He also stated that his family is currently awaiting the report on what happened from the sub-contractor who hired Pierre to determine the necessary steps to take.

Thomas, however, disclosed that up to this point no report has been given to him or his family by the sub-contractor.

“If the boss man ain’t give us, then we have to take somebody to court.

“I not suppose to call him, he supposed to call me and tell me that he ain’t get through,” said Pierre’s father Walter Baptiste.

When SEARCHLIGHT contacted Pierre’s employer, he stated that he was not in a position to give a statement.

Pierre is currently a patient at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. (CM)
