Minister David Muhammad will present his new book, ‘Black Studies’ and an accompanying lecture tomorrow, May 7, at the Red Cross Building on Halifax Street (in the same compound as the Ministry of Education).

‘Black Studies’ has already been successfully launched in Trinidad, Canada, Jamaica, England, the US and Antigua and Barbuda, and the organizers have said that they are looking forward to this local launch.

The book features 433 pages, 10 chapters and over 370 references. It covers lessons from Pan-Afrikanism, Afrocentricity, Black Nationalism, Civil Rights, Nation of Islam and Rastafarianism; as well as teachings from the greatest Black leaders, teachers, scholars, historians and revolutionaries over the last 400 years — including WEB DuBois, Marcus Garvey, Booker T Washington, CLR James, Franz Fanon, Elijah Muhammad, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Black Panthers, Angela Davis, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Farrakhan, Kwame Ture, Hailie Selassie and many more.

It also includes input from a number of 21st century Black philosophers.

Chapters include Black Ideology, Racism, Caribbean Studies, African History, Slavery, Religion, Black Sociology, Black Politics, Black Economics and Black Psychology.

David Muhammad is the Trinidad and Eastern Caribbean Representative of Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, and he is also a radio and television presenter, tertiary education lecturer and writer.

He has travelled to 34 countries and continues to tour, promoting his book.
