CUDO donates to Calliaqua Clinic

The Calliaqua Clinic is now better able to meet the needs of the communities which it serves, as the clinic was the recent beneficiary of two sets of donations.{{more}}

The timely donation came from the Calliaqua United Diaspora Organization (CUDO), which consists of a group of residents from the community who now reside in the United States of America.

Items donated included medical supplies, a wheelchair and walker — as well as an assortment of toiletries.

Haley Thomas-McLean represented CUDO, and said that the organization’s motto is “helping each other”.

The group intends to continue its mission of giving back to the community in different forms on a yearly basis.

Adding to the recent blessings bestowed on the clinic, the Calliaqua Methodist Church handed over a refrigerator in a brief handing over ceremony. Reverend Adolf Davis was present to formally hand over the item to staff nurse Samantha John, with other members of the church and the health care facility present to witness and be a part of the ceremony.

The nurses described the donation as timely, and expressed much gratitude to the church for the refrigerator, which is now being used to store vaccines.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment continues to lend support and collaborate with all institutions and persons who, in seeing it fit to support the Ministry as part of their shared responsibility, contribute to the overall growth and further development of the national health sector.
