The online publication ‘Surrey Mirror’, said that Prescod arrived at the Gatwick Airport and was nabbed by Border Force officers on Sunday, April 17th.

“Officers made the discovery on Sunday, when a passenger was stopped after arriving on a flight from St Lucia”, said the report.

Prescod, 40 and a past student of the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS), was charged with importing a Class A drug into the UK.

He appeared at the Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 18th and was remanded in custody. He appears at the Croydon Crown Court on Monday, May 23, while the investigation has been passed to the National Crime Agency (NCA).

According to the Surrey Mirror, speaking after Prescod’s arrest, Border Force South director Sue Young said that Border Force officers play a crucial role in securing the borders against drug smuggling.

“In this case, their professionalism has meant that dangerous class A drugs have been seized and will no longer end up in our communities, where they can do a lot of harm.

“Working closely with law enforcement colleagues at the NCA, we are determined to prevent drug trafficking and put those responsible behind bars.”

It was noted that Border Force officers use an array of search techniques, including sniffer dogs, carbon dioxide detectors, heartbeat monitors and scanners, as well as visual searches, to find well-hidden stowaways, illegal drugs, firearms and tobacco.

Prescod is said to have flown from St Vincent and the Grenadines to St Lucia, where he boarded a flight to England.
