Fisherman’s Day celebrations kick off on April 15
The 41st edition of the annual Fishermanâs Day celebrations in St Vincent and the Grenadines will take place from April 15 to May 16, 2016.
The venue for Fishermanâs Day this year will be at the Calliaqua Fisheries Complex, but the month of celebrations will be launched in Barrouallie on April, 15, 2016.{{more}}
The 2016 Fishermanâs Day celebrations will be hosted under the theme âIllegal Fishing and Climate Change are Threats to Livelihood and Food Security, but against all Odds we will Prevailâ and slogan âRespect the law, Report the catch, Protect your livelihoodâ. These were selected in keeping with the World Food Dayâs theme, âClimate Change and Agriculture.â
The Fishermanâs Day Executive Committee 2016 consists of chair â Winfield Tannis Abbott; vice-chair â Winsbert Harry; secretary â Tameek telemaque; treasurer â Nyasha Antrobus; public relations officer â Reuben Bradshaw; T-shirt Committee chairperson â Lorenzo George; Fish-Night Committee chairperson – Ferique Shortte; Education Committee chairperson â Nyasha Antrobus; Fishing Competition Committee chairperson â Travon Ferary; Fund-raising Committee chairperson â Carlina LaBorde.
