FirstCaribbean Bank makes good on promise

The local branch of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank made good on commitments last week, when the financial institution presented cheques to two worthwhile causes.

Business Support officer Jacintha Hinds handed over a cheque to John Renton, principal of the Thomas Saunders Secondary School,{{more}} to assist the school in better securing its premises at Richmond Hill, as part of the bank’s Adopt-A-Cause programme.

The donation goes towards the construction of a wall, which would be constructed with the assistance of members of the bank’s staff.

Renton, accepting the contribution on behalf of the school, expressed his gratitude to the bank and indicated that he looked forward to working along with the FCIB staff on the construction of the wall, as well as on future ventures.

Also receiving a generous donation that day was the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cancer Society, which received proceeds from this year’s Walk for the Cure, which took place on October 3, this year. The local Cancer Society received more than EC$30,000, which was accepted by Sylvia Mapp.

Mapp thanked FCIB for the initiative, which raises awareness about cancer, and provides much needed funds for the care and support of people fighting the deadly killer.

Hinds noted that her institution is committed to the development of lives in St Vincent and the Grenadines, and that the initiatives were part of the bank’s drive to achieve its objective. She indicated that CIC FCIB would continue its efforts to assist those in need in the upcoming year and beyond.

The 2015 Walk for the Cure raised US $400,000 in 17 countries.
