Landing of LIAT at Argyle International Airport is a fraud – Dr Godwin Friday

The landing of an aircraft of regional airline LIAT at the Argyle International Airport (AIA) last Sunday is a fraud, for which the airline will face consequences.

And according to first vice-pesident of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Dr Godwin Friday, LIAT will have to pay for this.{{more}}

He made the statements while addressing a rally of the NDP last Saturday night at the Victoria Park.

“…LIAT, for its sins, will pay for its mistakes, because it has no business getting involved in the politics of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Because the only reason that a plane is landing out there is for LIAT to essentially campaign for Ralph Gonsalves and the ULP. That is not its role; that is not its place and there will be consequences.”

Friday, who is his party’s candidate for the Northern Grenadines seat, told the thousands at the Victoria Park that this landing of LIAT was fraud committed on the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Most of all they know what they are doing and yet the Argyle International Airport cannot be completed, even though it was said to be done in 2011, 2012, 2013 2014 and the year after. And tomorrow they will go out there and try to commit a fraud on the people of this country by saying that they are going to land a LIAT airplane there,” Friday declared.

The NDP vice-president told the lively crowd that it is time for Vincentians to put the country in the hands of party leader Arnhim Eustace, who has proven to the public that he has the ability to lead.

“He has the skills; he has the record of performance not just here in St Vincent, but throughout the Caribbean. He is respected for the things that you want a leader of this country to be respected for.”

Friday also reached out to Vincentians, urging them to vote for the NDP and to put a leader who has the ability to bring back hope and prosperity to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The 15 candidates who will vie in the December 9 elections were formally introduced to the public.

The rally saw performances from a number of seasoned and new calypsonians. They were also entertained by the comedic styling of Maurice Horne.

Speeches were also delivered by leader of the NDP Arnhim Eustace, second vice-president St Claire Leacock, president of the Women’s Arm Doris Macintosh and president of the Young Democrats Nick Francis.(CM)
