Weekesâ brother, Sean Stanley, said that while his brother was mentally challenged, he was never known to be violent. Stanley said that his brother was originally from Rose Place, but resided somewhere around the Victoria Park area and still had enough of his faculties intact to maintain his outer appearance.
âHe would curse you if you troubled him, but he was never known as a violent person. Everybody liked him and he would run errands for people in the Bottom Town area,â said Stanley, who added that he was extremely angry that his brother died the way he did.
âWe grew up together and we were close growing up,â said Stanley, who disclosed that Weekesâ mom was planning to visit from overseas during the coming Christmas holidays.
Stanley said that his brother was well liked and persons who witnessed the incident have since gone to the police to give their versions of the incident.
He revealed that persons told him that his brother was trying to escape his attacker, who was chasing him.
âHe was not confrontational, he would curse if you call him things like âpork rastaâ, but he was never known for violence and everybody who knew him would tell you that,â stressed Stanley.
Weekes celebrated his 49th birthday last July. He is the 22nd homicide victim this year.(LC)
