The intended use of the projector is for the schoolâs IT programme. With its large-screen capability, the device will allow an entire class to view a single computer in real time, greatly enhancing the learning experience.
âWe are pleased to be involved in the education of our youth in such an important area,â Ballah said. âParticularly in the area of technology, learning by seeing is very important. A projector is a simple solution to a problem that plagues many schools, namely, how can educators reach as many students as possible with the limited resources we have here on St Vincent.â
Ballah said he was attuned to how important it is to stay on top of technology. He said he hopes the projector will be a step in that direction for the Tourama School.
St Vincent Distillers Ltd (SVDL), located at Mt Bentinck, is the producer of award-winning Captain Bligh, Sparrowâs, SLR and Sunset Strong Rums.
The former Mt Bentinck Estate, which is the current home of SVDL, has been producing rum since the early 1900s. It was renamed St Vincent Distillers Ltd in 1963, when it was sold to the Government of St Vincent. In 1996, the business was sold to C K Greaves & Co Ltd, which continues to operate the distillery today. Since that time, the distillery has significantly expanded its operations and now produces six distinctive products. In 2014, Captain Bligh was voted âThe Worldâs Best Rumâ at the World Rum Awards in London, England.
Over the years, SVDL has quietly promoted projects that assist local organizations and communities.
