Vincentian pens inspirational novel
The inspirational novel âGraced by Graceâ is now finally available to the Vincentian public.
Author Lorna Edwards said already, the book is doing well, which she believes is because its message is universal and hence speaks to all humanity.
In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT Wednesday, Edwards said the road to getting her book published in London was more difficult than she had anticipated.{{more}}
âI must say it was very challenging, more challenging that I thought it would be. I was not only author, I became editor, I had to be involved in the guidance of the book cover designâ¦I found myself wearing all these hats, even though I thought my main role would be author and self-publisher,â Edwards explained.
Although initially she intended to self-publish her book, Edwards explained that teaming with an established publishing house opened up for her opportunities which she would not have originally been able to get.
âWhen I got to London, I realized that it would be to my advantage to partner with an established publishing company, Beaufortsâ¦it gives me a lot of exposure to Nielsen database and various distributors that I would never have otherwise accessed that readily and easily. So, even though it did cost a little extra, it did make good business sense to publish in conjunction with them.â
Edwards said although she expected her book to be well received, she still marvels at how her message has transcended race, age and geographical lines.
âI must say that the book was well received…I always believe that my message is universal and hence it speaks to all humanity, and London is very diversified and just from London itself, my book was able to reach Sierra Leone, Nigeria and South Africa,â the proud author boasted.
She added that in her novel, she has removed conversations from the bedroom, the workplace and put them on the doorstep. These issues include family disintegration, religious tension and social ills.
âAny issue that a person can identify with, whether it is at present or some time in your life, there are real issues that are being brought forward,â the author stated.
Edwards indicated that the book had record sales the first day it became available in St Vincent and the Grenadines, especially taking into account the fact that it was not advertised.
She encourages the public to purchase the book, not only to support her, but also to be inspired and touched by the message which she has to offer.
âGraced by Graceâ is available for purchase at Karizma boutique, upstairs the Marcole Plaza, for $80. The book will be available at Gaymes and Jujube bookstores soon.(CM)
