Gunman killed by police in exchange of gunfire
Investigations are ongoing into the death of Questelles resident Rawlson Williams, who was shot and killed by members of the local constabulary, following an alleged exchange of gunfire in the vicinity of Huffles Ranch, in Brighton over the weekend.{{more}}
According to a police press statement, âOn October 3, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of a Questelles resident, who shot at members of the local constabulary, early Saturday morning,â the statement read.
The report further reads, âThe Preliminary investigations are that police officers were on duty at Huffles Ranch, Belvedere, a popular night club, when they heard gun shots in the vicinity shortly after 5:30 a.m. The police saw a man shooting at another man and gave chase.â
The report states that the gunman, who was later identified as Rawlson Williams of Questelles, started firing shots in the direction of the police, who returned fire.
Williamsâ body was subsequently discovered near to a .357 Magnum revolver in some nearby bushes.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried on the body of the deceased to ascertain the cause of death.
