Youlou Pan Movement elects new executive
A new executive has been elected to run the affairs of the Youlou Pan Movement, the governing body of steel pan in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The elections took place on Monday, September 21, 2015, at the biennial convention of the organization, at which eight local steel orchestras were represented.{{more}}
Oneka Morgan was re-elected as president, to serve for a period of two years, beginning September 2015. Her executive consists of nine persons: vice-president Rodney Small; treasurer Errolene McKenzie; secretary Leslie-Ann Millington; assistant secretary Rianna Byron and public relations officer Christal Oliver. Francis Llewellyn was re-elected education officer and Chewalee Johnson and Delano Bristol were elected trustees.
The new executive is charged with the responsibility of mobilizing steel orchestras in SVG, of uniting and organizing, hosting events, raising awareness and improving the function of the organization. A few of the events that would be held this year are the Independence celebratory concert in a rural community/Bequia, an Inter-Steel Orchestra sports and activities meet and the Christmas concert with mass steel orchestras.
The meeting was held at the office of the Carnival Development Corporation.
