SVG Police Welfare Association sends over $12,000 in assistance to Dominica

The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Welfare Association has donated over $12,000 worth of aid to flood-ravaged Dominica.

Items sent include bottled water, toiletries, canned goods, and other food items — which were transported to Dominica last Tuesday through the assistance of the Barbados Coast Guard.{{more}}

According to general secretary of the Welfare Association Sergeant 509 Brenton Smith, the Dominican Police made the request after being devastated by Tropical Storm Erika recently.

Additionally, Smith expressed his hope that the donation “would be able to reach the Dominican Police Force and residents of Dominca.”

According to him, financial contributions were made by the association’s members who attended a general meeting on Monday.

Smith, who is also the president of the Caribbean Federation of Welfare Associations, confirmed that other Caribbean welfare associations are organizing similar donations — coordinated by the Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Associations. (AS)
