13 represent SVG at 12th annual CARIFESTA

Thirteen Vincentians are now in Haiti representing St Vincent and the Grenadines at the 12th edition of CARIFESTA.

The unique Caribbean celebration that observes all the cultures of the Caribbean began on Friday, August 21{{more}} and will run until this Sunday, August 30.

This country’s 13 representatives are Maxine Mavorn Browne – head of Contingent (H.O.C) and choreographer; Julian “Peling” Pollard – deputy H.O.C and artistic director; Lyndon Walker-James – technical director; Roselle Snagg – dancer (Renaissance dance Company); Kia Henry – dancer (La Gracia Dance Company; Kanille Brudy – dancer (Arabesque Dance Company); Rayshawn Adams – dancer (Ground Breakers); Delroy “Fireman” Hooper – Soca artiste; Rondy “Luta” Mc Intosh – Soca Artiste; Lancelot “Madskull” Gloster-Scott – Soca Artiste; Zamfir “Zangie” Adams -Calypso/Folk/Ragga/Soca artiste; Jomoro Francis – pannist; Bartholomew “Tubbs” Quammie – Grand Market Point/crafts- person.

CARIFESTA first began in Guyana as a post-independence celebration of the culture and “folk.”

This year, CARIFESTA is being held under the theme “Our Roots, Our Culture, Our Common Future,” and has representatives from 20 other Caribbean Islands.
