NDP ‘stands firmly’ behind Guyana

The New Democratic Party (NDP) says it “stands firmly” in support of the government and people of Guyana in the ongoing border dispute between Venezuela and Guyana over the Essequibo region.{{more}}

In a release issued last Friday, the NDP said they “recognize and appreciate the assistance rendered to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines by the government of Venezuela, for now more than 30 years.

“That notwithstanding, the New Democratic Party, the sitting Opposition in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, stands firmly in support of the government and people of our CARICOM sister Guyana…”

The release said the NDP looks forward to a peaceful resolution of this issue, and the maintenance of Guyana’s territorial integrity.
