St Vincent Grammar School improves on CXC CSEC 2014 results

For 2015, the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS) has recorded its best performance ever at the CXC/CSEC examinations.

According to a press release from headmaster Curtis King, the all boy institution recorded an overall pass rate of 94.5 per cent in the 2015 sitting of the examinations. This is an improvement on their 2014 results, which garnered an overall 93.03 per cent performance.{{more}}

“There were 100 per cent passes in 11 subjects; nine subjects recorded percentage pass rates in the 90s; two in the 80s and the other three subjects recorded a 78 per cent, 60 per cent and 50 per cent respectively,” the release stated.

Top performers for the SVGS were Christian Friday, Chrislon Fraser, Addison Edwards, Kadeem DeShong and Che Grant.

The release further stated that Friday gained 10 passes with nine grade ones in Biology, Chemistry, English A and B, Geography, IT, Math, Physics and Spanish and a grade two in French, while Fraser also gained 10 passes, with nine grade ones in Economics, English A and B, French, IT Integrated Science, Math, Principles of Accounts and Spanish and a grade two in Caribbean History.

Meanwhile, Edwards gained 11 subjects with nine grade ones, Economics, English A and B, EDPM, IT, Integrated Science, Math, Principles of Accounts and Principles of Business, a grade two in Geography and a grade three in Spanish and DeShong gained 11 passes, with eight grade ones, English A and B, IT, Math, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business and Spanish and grade two in Biology, Chemistry and Geography. Grant also gained 11 passes with eight grade ones in Biology, Chemistry, Geography, IT, Math, Physics, Principles of Business, Spanish and grade two in English A and B and Principles of Accounts.

Students at the SVGS are allowed to sit subjects from 23 different subject areas. (BK)
