Defacement of constituency office must be thoroughly investigated – Eustace

Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace has written to the police asking them to “thoroughly investigate” the defacement with red paint, of the building that houses the East Kingstown constituency office of the New Democratic Party (NDP).

In a letter dated July 24 addressed to Deputy Commissioner of Police Reynold Hadaway,{{more}} Eustace said in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 23, “a number of assailants applied red paint to the recently painted exterior walls of the building, which houses the East Kingstown NDP Constituency office.

“We consider this to be a politically motivated criminal act.

“This act of defacement and vandalism must be investigated so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice. I write to formally request that the matter be thoroughly investigated.”

During his weekly radio programme on Nice Radio yesterday, Eustace informed listeners that a camera was facing the building that was defaced.

He also said he has made arrangements to ensure that the red paint stays on the building and that an appropriate notice will be painted on to the building, saying “All are welcome.”
