Venezuela medical teams to perform eye surgeries at MCMH next week
Four medical teams from Venezuela will arrive here next week to perform eye surgeries at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on approximately 300 patients.
The surgeries are part of âMiracle Visionâ, which will also see approximately two groups of 14 patients each traveling to Venezuela to undergo surgery to correct their vision.{{more}}
Professionals at the Medical Records Unit at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital have been charged with the responsibility of contacting persons who were pre-selected in April during a visit here by medical professionals from Venezuela.
A release from the Ministry of Health said upon being called, persons will go through a process of registration, electrocardiogram, blood tests and X-rays.
Each of the four teams which will arrive here next week consists of 11 persons, including ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists and nurses.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, a memorandum of understanding between Venezuela and St Vincent and the Grenadines was signed for the âMiracle Visionâ programme to be faciliated by the South American Nation.
The conditions that are being treated are cataracts and pterygium, which is a fleshy growth of the eye.
