After a two-year hiatus, one mas band is back with a soca inspired presentation for Vincy Mas 2015.

Lynx, formerly known as Singer Lynx, will present six sections, come Carnival Tuesday, under the theme “Songs from Machel Montano.”{{more}}

Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT this week, band leader Cornelius Thomas stressed that the 10-year-old mas band was in no way trying to disrespect local artistes by featuring a Trinidadian as the main inspiration for their 2015 presentation.

“He started from a very young age,” Thomas explained. “No disrespect for my local boys. Lynx is making a return and we had to come heavy, big and we selected Machel, because everywhere in the world you go, somebody has to know Machel Montano.”

The six sections include two children sections: “Water Flowing” and “Pump Yuh Flag,” and four adult sections: “The Fog,” “Remedy,” “Erupt” and “MOR.”

These costumes range from $150 for children to $350 and $450 for adults.

Currently, the band has no main sponsors, but is working in collaboration with WE FM. Thomas took the opportunity to encourage business entities to support local mas bands which play a role in boosting the country’s tourism.
