UWI student, airline worker under investigation

Investigations are said to be ongoing, to get to the bottom of what police believe is a drug ring operating out of the E T Joshua Airport at Arnos Vale.

And according to a source close to the investigations, a 23-year-old university student and an employee of an airline company are the focus of the most recent investigations.{{more}}

SEARCHLIGHT understands that on February 20, 2015, a knapsack originating from the E. T. Joshua airport, containing 30 pounds of marijuana, was intercepted by Customs officials in Barbados.

According to our source, the knapsack is believed to have been placed on a flight to Barbados along with other luggage by the employee of the airline. The bag had a tag on it bearing the name of the female student.

Customs officials in Barbados are said to have been waiting

for the student to turn up to collect the bag, but she never showed up.

Our information is that the student left St Vincent on an early morning flight to Barbados, five days before, on February 15.

According to the source, police believe that the ring has been in operation for some time. (KW)
