Grammar School Young Leaders visit 13 primary schools

On Friday, February 20, the St Vincent Grammar School Young Leaders visited 13 different primary schools, namely: the C W Prescod Primary School, the Kingstown Preparatory School, the Belair Government School, the Calliaqua Anglican School, the Petersville Primary School, the Lowmans Leeward Anglican School, the Kingstown Government School, the Kingstown Anglican School, the Sion Hill Government School, the Questelles Government School, the Sugar Mill Academy, the Clare Valley Government School and the Lodge Village Government School.{{more}}

While at the various schools, the Grammar School Young Leaders also spoke to pupils on this year’s theme: “Digital Citizenship, Responsibly Navigating Technology.”

“We explained to them that a digital citizen is one who knows what is right and wrong, exhibits intelligent technology behaviour, and makes good choices when using technology and highlighted the ways in which one can be a good digital citizen and also explained what it means to responsibly navigate technology.”

The main purpose of this activity was to educate the the Grade 5 pupils of: the dangers of not only the Internet but of technology; the different cyber crimes namely: cyber-bullying, cyber-stalking, hacking and plagiarism; the effects these different cyber crimes can have on an individual; the different ways in which they can prevent them.
