Lowmans Wd man succumbs to chop wounds

While Rohandale Young loved to party and have a good time, his brother, Pluto Pope, says he was no troublemaker.

According to a police report, on February 12, at Lowmans Windward, following an altercation with Amron Walker, Young, 40, a farmer, succumbed to chop wounds about his body, at about 7 p.m.{{more}}

In an interview at his home at Lowmans, Pope told SEARCHLIGHT that on the tragic day, he was in an area where a funeral procession was taking place.

He said his brother had been drinking when he was involved in the altercation.

“He and the guy had a little scrap up right down on the block there. I turn to the other guy and say behave yourself, my brother been drinking and he head nice,” Pope recalled.

He said his brother left, but he is not sure where he went.

At about 7 p.m., Pope said he saw persons running in his direction.

“Somebody call me and say ‘come, come, they chop up Dale around there.’ I say wait, Dale ain’t pass back here. Is like he came home and go back after the guy. He walked a different route,” he said.

When he went around the corner to investigate, Pope said he met his two sisters crying, not too far from where Dale lay on the ground.

“I see him lying on the ground and I check he pulse. I see his eyes were opened and so I just keep my hands moving over his face. I shake him and called him, but he did not respond,” he added.

Pope said he observed that his brother had what appeared to be a stab wound to his chest and a chop wound to the left side of his abdomen.

“I just have to hold up and try to be strong. He didn’t like trouble nobody. He liked to party. If he drink, he used to like to have fun,” Pluto said about his brother – the father of a six-year-old son.

A post mortem examination will be carried out on Young’s body today to ascertain the cause of death.

Meanwhile, Walker, 28, of the same address, is a patient at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing chop wounds about his body.

Investigations are continuing.(KW)
