Digicel’s food drive spreads cheer around SVG

The Christmas season has gone, but Digicel continues to spread cheer.

Recently, Digicel’s marketing team, made up of marketing manager Juno DeRoche and marketing executive Danielle Cupid and accompanied by mobile advertising executive at Digicel Melicia Abbott, brought a bit of merriment to a number of families in and around Kingstown when they distributed food baskets.{{more}}

DeRoche said that the distribution of food baskets was done in the company’s continued efforts to reach out to the most needy and vulnerable in our society.

“We know that some persons can have things rough at times, so we just want to make sure that we do not forget these persons. We like to assist whenever and however we can,” said DeRoche.

She added, “we know that a lot of people complain that January is the hardest month, so therefore we wanted to assist persons and continue spreading the cheer throughout the month of January.”

The food drive touched places like Glen, Upper Cane Hall, Rose Place/Bottom Town and Redemption Sharpes.

Natasha Williams of Glen said that it was good that Digicel dropped by. She said that she is a Digicel customer and she is happy to be the recipient of “a gift like this for the first time.”

Narissa George, holding her baby Orissa at Upper Cane Hall, commented, “this is good, me and my three children would like to thank Digicel.”

Single father Anthonio Morgan said that he feels good to be a recipient of the food items.

He explained that his wife died a few months ago and he takes care of his four children on his own.

“I feel good because this will come in handy,” said Morgan.

Two more recipients, in the persons of Roslyn Bute and Marietta Simmons of Rose Place, also commended the telecommunications company for their thoughtfulness and generosity.

Bute, who is a diabetic, said that she was happy for the visit, while Simmons, better known as ‘Tanty Lucy,’ commented, “I’m glad, thankful and I’m grateful.”
