“It’s a great feeling. It was a surprise to me that my department could plan such a thing. When I called a general meeting, it was after that meeting I was presented with the award,” John told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday.

“One of the things I must say about leadership is that it must start with love. You must love the people that you work with and their family. You have to get them to love their jobs and that really helps a lot,” he said.

In remarks at the brief handing over, Corporal 316 Henry Providence said, “In 2014, the department had some challenges and as a result of Superintendent John’s leadership we have overcome those challenges.”

Providence said the staff wanted to show their appreciation to John for his great work.(KW)
