According to a release from the bank, the slogan for the anniversary celebrations is “SVCB – Celebrating our 70th Anniversary with value and integrity!” This slogan was composed by staff member Shadia Joseph.

During the month of February, 2015, the bank will be observing the milestone with several activities, including a Customer Appreciation Day, in which they will entertain the people who have brought them to this moment in the bank’s history with their loyalty and unending support.

The activities kick off on Sunday, February 1, 2015, with a Service of Thanksgiving at the Arnos Vale Methodist Church, from 4 p.m. Customers and well-wishers are invited to join them, as they give thanks for the blessings they have received and continue to receive as they execute their mandate to serve the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines. The Penny Bank Choir will also perform at the service.

“During the month, the Bank will launch a new programme which will certainly excite the nation and pique the people’s interest!” the release said.

The bank lauds the vision of the founding members who, under the chairmanship of Alfred Hazell and the management of Ormond C Forde, began an indigenous financial institution which is held in high regard within the financial sector of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Over its 70 years, the bank has seen tremendous growth, but this was not achieved without many challenges – competition, the world economy, natural disasters, to name a few – which they were able to surmount in a sometimes volatile market.

The bank expresses thanks to their shareholders, board of directors, management team, staff and their esteemed customers for their collective contribution in allowing the bank to serve them with value and integrity for 70 years.
