Our heart is touched with the grief many persons are experiencing as a result of this sudden and indeed tragic occurrence, which has resulted in the loss of lives, including very young lives in our country. We pray for you all, that God’s Holy Spirit would comfort your hearts during this difficult time.

We are grateful to God for lives that have been saved and pray for their speedy recovery from physical injuries and emotional pain. We also recognize the bravery of those who assisted in rescuing lives and in retrieving loved ones from the ocean so their families may have closure.

The DRP also takes the opportunity to sympathize with the principals, staff and students of the schools that have lost students. It is our prayer that God would help you all to bear this trying time. May this tragedy bring us all closer to our Creator, who loves us and cares about us. May we also draw closer to each other, with greater appreciation for one another in love and mutual respect one for the other.

We also wish to convey the sympathy of Hon Tillman Thomas, former Prime Minister of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique, who shared his sympathy with us via telephone contact and sends his prayers and best wishes to the Vincentian families who are hurting from the loss of their loved ones. Members of the Vincentian diaspora have also reached out to us to express their sympathy and we convey them to our people on their behalf.

The DRP pledges any support we can give to comfort those who mourn and we will continue to pray for our people and country. May God bless you all and may God bless St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
