Over 13,000 barrels handled over concessions period

The number of barrels handled at Port Kingstown during the special Christmas concessions period showed an increase over the 2013 period.{{more}}

During the duty free concession period, which began on November 17, 90 containers, containing 8,972 barrels were handled, up from 7,898 in 2013.

Operations manager at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority Carl James said, as of Friday, January 9, there were 120 barrels remaining to be cleared from Port Kingstown.

At Port Campden Park, 65 containers containing 4,700 barrels were handed and as of January 9, 150 barrels remained to be cleared from the port.

James said all temporary employees at the Kingstown location were released by January 9, whereas those at Campden Park were released by December 31, 2014.

The duty free period was originally scheduled to end on December 31, but has been extended to January 17, 2014.
