FLOW continues to spread Christmas cheer

Even with the festive season recently concluded, children from Rose Place were still receiving gifts, thanks to Columbus Communications.

On Wednesday, December 31, some of the 37 children who live in the area were on hand at the Youth Affairs department in Rose Place to receive their gifts.{{more}}

Corey Garrett, marketing and communications manager of Columbus St Vincent Ltd, said as part of their “Wonderflow” Christmas promotion, they decided to give back to the community.

“We obviously decided that the best persons to give back to around Christmas time are the kids of St Vincent and the Grenadines,” Garrett said.

He explained they partnered with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Welfare Division in finding a group of children that was needy and deserving of toys that they collected via their toy drive.

Garrett also pointed out that one of the main reasons why they chose to embark on the venture was because many children look forward to receiving gifts around the Christmas season.

Just before Christmas, Flow also donated gifts to the children of Paul’s Avenue.

It is hoped that the gift giving becomes an annual event and Garrett noted that their mission is to always give back where possible.

“Although it may not be annually, as in every Christmas, there will be initiatives this year, where we reach out to the communities and different groups around,” he said.

He also encouraged other companies to get on board with such initiatives for the new year.

Gweneth Anthony, assistant youth officer in the Youth Affairs department, said it is a good initiative by Columbus where they can partner with corporate companies, such as Flow, to carry out such a venture.

“This is a festive time and people look forward to little goodies and this is a very good way to celebrate the season. It is the first time we are venturing into this initiative and we hope it can become an annual event…,” she stated.
