Campden Park being considered to become seventh town

The major industrial site in St Vincent and the Grenadines is being considered to become the seventh town of this country.{{more}}

In his wrap up of the 2015 Estimates debate last week, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves was listing several infrastructural developments expected to take place in the coming year, when he shared his intention to hold discussions relating to Campden Park being named a town.

“I want to put on the agenda next year and to see if we can fashion it in time before the end of the year, is to have a public conversation about Campden Park being the seventh town in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” Gonsalves said.

“It has a port, it’s going to have very good roads, and it has a good playing field. It has a secondary school; it has a big developed area.

He added that the new proposed town may actually include up to the Chauncey area.

The Prime Minister noted that the suggestion to have the area elevated to the level of a town may help to functionally improve the lives of persons living there.

There are six towns in St Vincent and the Grenadines: the capital — Kingstown, Georgetown, Calliaqua, Layou, Barrouallie and Chateaubelair.(BK)
