A statement from SISVG stated that the books were in an effort to “help fill the minds of our future generations.”

The local organization, which believes that sustainable development begins with education, donates books to primary schools every year, in celebration of International Literacy Day.

“We have adopted the UNESCO’s theme “Literacy for All” and so in our continued quest to fill the shelves of all the primary schools in St Vincent and the Grenadines, we say to our children, ‘Literacy helps eradicate poverty, read today and live better tomorrow’,” the statement said.
