C W Prescod Primary turns 25

The Christopher Wilberforce Prescod Primary School opened its doors in September 1989, under the moniker “The New Kingstown Primary School.” It was later renamed C W Prescod Primary School, in remembrance of the education stalwart Christopher Wilberforce Prescod.{{more}}

The school, which was built on the site of the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) building, catered for students of the Kingstown Methodist School and students of Grade 6 from various schools, who were unsuccessful at the Common Entrance Examinations.

The inclusion of these post Grade 6 students merited the school having Grades 7 and 8, with children of ages 13 to 15 years. At present, the school caters for students from Kindergarten through Grade 6.

This year, the C W Prescod Primary School is commemorating and celebrating its Silver Jubilee (25 years) of contributing to the educational, moral and social ideals and standards of the country, under the theme “Twenty-Five Years of Dedication, Quality Education and Achievement.” To mark this momentous occasion, the school will be hosting varying activities throughout the remainder of this year. These activities begin with a church service, to be held at the Kingstown Methodist Church on Thursday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m. The principal and staff of the school is inviting present and past students, teachers, parents and well-wishers to come and celebrate with us in thanksgiving of God’s merciful blessing, and love, which has endured to bring us thus far.(Contributed by CW Prescod Primary)
