Operations commercial manager at the St Vincent Brewery Limited Shafia London-Williams speaking from her office at Campden Park last Tuesday said that as part of local celebrations marking AGD, people, “can win great prizes up until September 25th.”

To win with Guinness leading up to AGD 2014, just buy a six pack of Guinness and you will receive a special edition Guinness glass.

“With every purchase of a six pack of Guinness at your favorite supermarkets you will instantly win a special edition Guinness glass,” said London-Williams.

Speaking about the main part of the promotion, London-Williams said that people are being asked to submit six Guinness crowns in an envelope with their contact details and as a result be entered in a raffle that will be drawn on Friday September 19.

The winner of the raffle will be whisked off to Jamaica where they will celebrate AGD in the VIP section during Jamaica’s annual AGD celebrations which usually has live performances from top reggae artistes including Mavado, Busy Signal and Agent Sasco.

“You could be sitting in VIP at the Arthur Guinness Day concert in Jamaica and that is a great way to celebrate with Guinness as Guinness always gives you more charm, more soul, more fun,” said London-Williams.

In relation to local celebrations, London-Williams said that the Brewery is still finalising the details and will be revealing the plans to the public, “one by one”.

“For now we are focusing on helping the public get these wonderful glasses when they buy a six pack and we also want to send that lucky person to Jamaica. As usual we will celebrate Arthur Guinness Day in fine style,” stressed London-Williams who added, “as usual on the day, it will be excitement galore from start to finish.”

Arthur Guinness Day which has changed its focus somewhat this year has been celebrated worldwide for five years now.

St Vincent and the Grenadines celebrated Arthur Guinness Day last year (on September 26) with a live simulcast from Jamaica which featured some of the Caribbean’s best artistes including I-Octane, Tarrus Riley, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, Aidonia and Busy Signal.

Locally the simulcast was held at the Solidarity Inc. car park on Bay Street.

Arthur Guinness Day is a global event with musical performances in 55 countries, including Ireland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, as well as the Caribbean. This year, some international countries will celebrate AGD with a new promotion dubbed ‘Guinness Amplify’ which will support new bands.

The day has been celebrated since 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease at the St James’ Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland.
