Nation builder to be laid to rest today

Irma Agatha Norris M.B.E. of Cyrus Street, New Montrose, originally from Belmont, Bequia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, died peacefully at home, on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

She was the loving mother of Lynette (Norris) Glasgow; Josette Norris; Cecily Norris; Audrie Norris-Simmons; the late Perry Norris I; adopted child Michael Norris in Canada; grandmother of Ayana Hypolite, Kimya Glasgow;{{more}} Dr Malaika Glasgow; Perry Norris II; Samara (Murphy) Burch-Smith, in Guyana; and great grandmother of Zahra.

Nephews in the USA – Irwin; Cecil; Sydney; Dennis Thompson; Clarence McMaster and their families; niece, Lynne Thompson; in-laws Karl; Yvonne; Cecile, Bert, Ron and their families; cousins Norma Walrond-Small; Mary Walrond; Brenda Walrond-Belcon; caregiver Judy Fraser; many other relatives and friends.

She was a teacher at the Bequia Primary School and the Girls’ High School, a member of the Girl Guide Movement; an enrolling member and Windward Islands Worker of the Anglican Mothers’ Union.

Students (and past students) of the Girls’ High School especially all former students of Form 1G Norris are kindly asked to attend the funeral in school uniform.

All members of the Girl Guide Movement (Bim Bims; Brownies; Guides; Rangers; and all Commissioners) are kindly asked to assemble in full uniform at the Girl Guide Headquarters at Kingstown Park at 1 p.m. in preparation for the parade to the church for the funeral.

The funeral service takes place today, Tuesday, July 22 at the St George’s Anglican Cathedral, Kingstown from 3 p.m. Viewing commences at 2 p.m. Interment in the churchyard.
