Shooting victim ‘clueless’ as to why he was shot

Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT from his bed at the male surgical ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, the 35-year-old security guard and shop owner says he is clueless as to why he was shot that night.
Durrant sustained a gunshot wound to his right hip.
âI was at the side of the road waiting on a vehicle to go to work and the car stop a couple feet in front me and two guys came out the car. The one who came out the back seat start to brandish shot. He didnât shoot at me; he been shooting in the other direction,â Durrant said as he winced in pain.
âI still canât move properly and my leg is swelling and cramping all the time,â he said.
According to police reports, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a vehicle stopped near the shop when two men wearing face masks exited the vehicle and began shooting, resulting in the death of two men and injuring Durrant and another man.
Durrant, who declined to have his photograph taken, stated that when the bullets were being fired, he ran to go to the back of the shop and that was when he said he felt something âtouchâ him.
âI went down in some bushes behind the shop and stay there. I didnât think anything happen to me. It took me a small while before I realize I got shot,â the father of two said.
âI [am] still trying to get to terms as to why this happen to me. I ainât dey in no beef with nobody. Me na get nothing for nobody and me ainât think I am hated by anybody,â a confused Durrant said.
Up to press time, no arrests were made in relation to the incident. (KW)
