4th annual RBC Blue Water Day
June 12, 2014 marked the 4th annual RBC Blue Water Day and its employees were involved in several âMakeoverâ activities.
The RBC âMakeoverâ campaign, which was optional, provided an opportunity for employees to engage in a substantive,{{more}} public activity that helps protect water, rather than just a symbolic action. RBC is concerned about the fact that most of the worldâs population now lives in towns and cities, and this has significantly increased the strain on water resources in these areas. Paved surfaces in urban areas create significant water problems, especially in extreme rain or snow conditions, as these surfaces allow polluted run-off to flow into lakes and rivers, overload sewer systems, and cause water damage to homes. RBC believes we can help the earth absorb water more slowly by creating smart green spaces with more permeable surfaces in urban areas and we can help reduce water pollution by keeping streets, sidewalks and shorelines clean.
This year, RBCâs employees celebrated RBC Blue Water Day by completing 750 Makeovers worldwide. RBC/RBTT is convinced that we can help ensure our water stays swimmable, fishable and drinkable if we âPlant Some Green, Clean Up or Cultivate Awareness.â In St Vincent and the Grenadines employees at RBTT used the opportunity to serve their clients clean bottled water and partnered with members of the Jaycees on a clean-up venture at the White Sand Beach at Canash.
