During the institution’s 2014 graduation and prize-giving ceremony last Thursday, tribute was paid to these past and present masters.

“With 103 years of excellence, the St Vincent Girls’ High School has produced decades of successful women throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines and its diaspora,” Lenski Adams, a current male teacher at the school said.

“However, great mention and respect must be shown to the masters who imparted their knowledge for the progression of women.”

In his presentation, Adams listed past male teachers who contributed significantly to the lives of past students of the all-girl institution.

As he called the names on the list, many past and some present students in the audience nodded, smiled and in some cases, gave loud rounds of applause in remembrance of the men who helped to shape their lives.

“During our centenary celebrations, we did not sufficiently recognize the contribution of male staff members to the tradition of excellence at the Girls’ High School. We therefore take this opportunity to thank them and to let them know that the students they have taught have benefitted from their tutelage both academic and otherwise,” Adams said.

Past male masters of GHS include: Edgar Adams, Roy Austin, Colin Bacchus, Dexter Bacchus, Dominic Bowler, Hilton Browne, Marcus Caine, Dr Chaudhuri, Herman Cummings, Michael DaSilva, Michael Dennie, Pat Drayton, Elmore Edwards, Trevor Goode, Rodel Hackshaw, Kioshi Itaya, Kenneth Jackson, Godwin James, David Jenkins, Andrew John, Alfred John, Philbert John, Winston King, Mr Kondo, Samuel Kulinda, Chelsey Lawrence, Bertram Lewis, Stephen Lynn, Reynold Murray, Conrad Nedd, Leonard O’Garro, Darion Ollivierre, Trevor Peacock, Joel Providence, Mr Raebuck, John Renton, Mr Ryan, Mr Sayers, Nigel Scott, Brian Seigal, Douglas Slater, Keisan Stevenson, Simon Stone, Mr Sluzarenko, Mr Tatsumi, Jerrol Thompson, Curtis Williams, Westwick Williams and Mr Wilson.
