Ten schools record 100 per cent CPEA passes
A number of schools in St Vincent and the Grenadines have recorded 100 per cent passes in this country’s first sitting of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA).
According to the Ministry of Education, of the 69 schools that sat the exams, 10 recorded 100 per cent passes.{{more}}
The Mustique Primary School is one such school.
In a press release, the principal and staff of the institution congratulated its four students for their success in the 2014 sitting of the CPEA. The students were identified as Dre Hazell, Tyrese Lewis, Delron Leach and Bethany Trimmingham.
“As was the case last year in the Common Entrance Exams, the school in 2014 recorded a 100 per cent pass rate in the CPEA,” the release said.
Lewis, who was the top performer for his school recorded an overall average of 92.60 per cent and placed 8th for boys and 12th overall. He was also the country’s best performer in Science, recording 100 per cent in that subject. Lewis also scored 96 per cent in Mathematics and 94 per cent in Language Arts.
His classmate, Bethany Trimmingham, placed 6th for girls and 15th overall, with a total average of 92.20 per cent. She recorded 98 per cent in Mathematics, 94 per cent in Language Arts and 96 per cent in Science.
A third student, Dre Hazell, placed in the first 500 positions.
The other schools that recorded 100 per cent passes are the Canouan Government School, Dorsetshire Hill Government School, New Prospect Primary School, Paradise Primary School, Petersville Primary School, Summit Primary School and Sunshine Primary School.
Sugar Mill Primary School and Windsor Primary School also recorded 100 per cent passes and had students that placed in the top 11 positions in this year’s CPEA.
