No specific desk at BOSVG for farmers’ transactions – Caesar

There is no specific desk at the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) for farmers to make payments to the Farmer Support Company (FSC).{{more}}

This was highlighted by Saboto Caesar, the Minister of Agriculture, while he was speaking at a press briefing last Friday.

Caesar noted that all farmers who have began drawing down on their loans, through the $6 million dollar credit programme, have been given a card, which they can take with them to any branch of BOSVG to make a payment to the account of the FSC.

“We are going to give each farmer a card and inside of the card is a leaflet which basically, it will have your name, the loan amount approved. It would have also at the bottom of it, the farmer support company account number at the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines,” the Minister said.

“When we had the launch of this programme we noted that we wanted this programme to be as farmer friendly as possible. If there is a farmer in Orange Hill, we want that farmer to be able to go at the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines in Georgetown. Take this document, take it to any teller at the bank and the teller would then see the account that you’re going to make the payment to, you make the payment and we would be able to assess that information from the bank. It’s not only in the Georgetown area. I know also in Mesopotamia, in Kingstown, in Chateaubelair, in Barrouallie, in Layou, and wherever there is a branch for the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines, you could take your document in, make the payment and it would be reflected in the accounts of the Farmer Support Company.”

Caesar stressed that there was no specific desk for this transaction to be done and so persons should join the lines as usual in the banks.(BK)
