Last Wednesday, Currency and Courts inked a deal to have the up-and-coming entertainer become the face of the promotion that will see customers receiving Carnival packages and an opportunity to delay their payments.
Courts has used a sample of Currencyâs current hit âPiece Ah Thisâ as the hook for the promotion which runs until the end of the Carnival season.
The Barrouallie resident will be featured on posters, as well as in a radio jingle and television commercial, that promote the offers and great deals for the customers.
âWe have partnered with The Network (Monday Band), and one of the offerings is a chance for customers to enjoy the mas, and with purchases, they will get a free Network Carnival pack to go out there and enjoy Carnival with the compliments of Courts,â Anita Phillips, OECS Marketing manager said during the press conference to announce the partnership.
âThere are also customers who we are well aware that during Carnival time are interested in purchasing their costumes and hence we have a nice credit offer for them,â Phillips added.
âBuy now and pay nothing for 60 days; so we are giving you a chance to enjoy your Carnival and pay later on after you have enjoyed your Carnival,â she said.
The St Lucia based Phillips said that partnering with local artistes has become a part of the Courts tradition during the Carnival season, and that the collaboration gives the artiste some much needed thrust into the public eye.
In the past, Courts had partnered with Zoelah, Skarpyon, Fya Empress and others as part of the campaign.
âThis is our way of supporting the culture, and the art of soca music. And when we partner with a soca artiste, we partner with the best⦠and this year that best for us is Keith Currency.
âIt is our way of further catapulting him into the limelight so that he can do even bigger and greater things not just because he is associated with Courts, but because now he is even more visible than before and gives him an even greater opportunity to do his thing and do it well,â Phillips noted.
According to Michele Samuel Courts Senior manager, the budding artist was selected by Courts because apart from his popular track, he represents the majority of the storeâs customers.
âHe is a family man; a husband and father, building a comfortable home, and bringing value home to his family, which is what we do, and so we are pleased to have Keith with us to sign our contract for his association with our Carnival promotion this year.
âMusic as you know is pervasive to all aspects of carnival and throughout our lives, during the rest of the year and so we choose to associate with an artiste who has a promising song and who can send a Courts message to our customers,â Samuel said.
Samuel said that Courts fully supports Carnival, and the young and upcoming artistes who are showing promise, and proud to provide that support to Currency.
Currency, accompanied by his manager Mark Cyrus at the signing, said he was grateful for the opportunity to represent Courts during the promotion, and said that he was confident that the partnership would be beneficial to both sides.
Cyrus also commended Courts for the initiative to collaborate with the artistes over the years.
âI highly appreciate their input into the artistes and having a mutual beneficial agreement where the artiste benefits from the publicity and Courts benefits from the artistes popularity.â(JJ)
