The NBF project seeks to ensure that essential safeguards are in place for the safe transfer, handling and use of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs)/ Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) resulting from modern biotechnology, thereby providing an adequate level of protection for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and human health.
As part of the management strategy to implement the project, the steering committee was established to provide overall policy direction and to oversee and direct the projectâs activities.
This signing ceremony, which took place at the sixth meeting of the NSC, at the conference room of the MOHWE, confirmed the commitment of both parties to the development of an effective biosafety management system in SVG, a critical step in ensuring our natural resources are not compromised by advancements in modern biotechnology.
