Vincentians to hold diaspora business meeting in NY

A special meeting of Vincentian business owners, business professionals, business students and other persons interested in creating a Vincentian diaspora business organization or a Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Friends of Crown Heights Educational Center,{{more}} 671 Prospect Place, Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The meeting is organized by three major organizations: The St Vincent and the Grenadines Diaspora Committee of New York, Inc, the Consulate General Office of St Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Council of St Vincent and the Grenadines Organizations USA, Inc,(COSAGO).

The purpose of the meeting is twofold: (1) to inform the Vincentian diaspora of the intention to establish an SVG diaspora business organization or a Chamber of Commerce and (2) to encourage business-oriented Vincentians in the diaspora to join the membership of the SVG business organization, which will serve as an umbrella body for all Vincentian owned businesses and professionals in the U.S.

“There are lots of benefits to be gained when we achieve the establishment of a single business entity to represent and promote the interest of Vincentian business owners, business professionals, and business students in the United States,” a release from the organizers said.

“We are encouraging you to attend this business meeting to gather information and to share your thoughts on the establishment of the SVG diaspora business organization or Chamber of Commerce. Your attendance at this event will be very much appreciated.”
