Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, on Wednesday, indicated that during the summer vacation, teachers will be trained to use the 12,500 laptop computers that were brought in this week for students of secondary schools and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.

The prime minister said that the teachers who successfully complete the training would be rewarded.

“I want to say to the teachers that everyone of you in the secondary school, when you do this training, and for most of them it would be quite easy, but when you get your certificate that you have completed the training for this particular purpose, I will have for each of the 700 of you, as an appreciation for you doing the training, a smart phone.

“Because the laptops, without the secondary school teachers ‘buying in’, would not be as effective,” he said.

The prime minister did not indicate what type of smart phones would be given to the teachers, but said they would be 4G ready.
