Youlou Arts announces Summer 2014 programme
The Youlou Arts Foundation has announced its 2014 Summer Arts Programme, including an art competition, âThe Growing Young SVG Artistsâ visual arts programme and companion Teachers Training Workshop.{{more}}
Grade 2 primary school students are invited to participate in the art competition on the theme âGardens.â
According to a release from Youlou Arts, the children are encouraged to design a special space which makes them feel safe and happy.
âThey should think in terms of designing their own paradise and are asked to consider what would be the main things they would choose to include in their design,â the release said.
The submitted work will be accepted in the following media: collage, drawing, painting, crayons and coloured pencils. Photography will not be accepted. Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 30.
âYoulou Arts is committed to offering art education to the children of St Vincent and the Grenadines by promoting excellence in the visual, performing and literary arts,â notes Camille Saunders-Musser.
âWe do this through multiple activities throughout the year, with a major emphasis during the school summer vacation months.â
The Teacher Training Workshops, scheduled for July 14 â 18 and Childrenâs Visual Arts Programmes scheduled for July 21 â August 8. The Teacher Training Workshops and Visual Arts Programs will be held in Kingstown and three outlying communities, Spring Village, Barrouallie, and Georgetown.

Established in 1999 by St Vincent artist Camille Saunders-Musser, the Youlou Arts Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, created for the sole purpose of developing, promoting and preserving the arts and culture of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
