CIBC First Caribbean gives much needed assistance

The local branch of CIBC First Caribbean International Bank lived up to its corporate social responsibility with recent donations to a number of educational and community-based groups.{{more}}

Educational contributions were made to the St Vincent Grammar School, towards the compilation of a yearbook that will commemorate the students’ academic and other experiences at the school.

A similar contribution was made to the Girls’ High School, which received a donation geared towards preparation for the institution’s graduation ceremony and ball, where 145 students are expected to be recognized. The gift pack includes a keepsake programme, a graduation souvenir and a yearbook.

Also receiving assistance was the sewing programme at the School for Children with Special Needs, which received funds for the purchase of a new machine.

The students currently produce cushions, pillow cases, sheets and curtains, as part of their preparation for the work environment and self-sufficiency.

The bank also assisted students of the St Martin’s Secondary School, who are in preparation for their July 4 to 18 trip to Cuba, where they will be engaged in activities geared at enhancing and appreciating the listening, speaking, reading and writing of a foreign language and culture.

With regard to CIBC First Caribbean’s community outreach, a donation was made to the Starlift Steel Orchestra, through the purchase of tickets for the group’s upcoming musical concerts.

A total of $10,000 was also made available for the purchase of school essentials in the wake of the December 2013 floods.

The donation was made in the form of an account set up at the Gaymes Book Store, and was done through the Ministries of Education and National Mobilization.

The donations were presented by Jacintha Hinds, CIBC First Caribbean International Bank’s Business Support officer.
