VINSA aims for new heights

The Vincentian Students Associaton (VINSA) of Cave Hill, Barbados, is seeking to soar to a whole new horizon in the coming year.{{more}}

According to a press release, the association, which seeks to be a home away from home for Vincentian students and a true representation of Vincentian culture, elected a new executive to lead the organization on April 1.

In a farewell dinner, themed “New Horizons,” held on April 17, the new executive thanked the members of the outgoing executive for their hard work and assured them that VINSA will attain new heights of success.

The release stated that Justin Robinson, dean of the Social Sciences faculty at the Cave Hill Campus gave a feature address to those in attendance, including Vincentian students, lecturers and supporters from other islands.

In addition, president Dalano Dasouza, a post-graduate studies student, stated that a renewed focus on welfare and philanthropy will be hallmarks of VINSA for the upcoming year.

The group is dedicated and driven to affect change in whatever way it can and is currently planning activities for the summer months of 2014 that are both academically stimulating and philanthropic in nature.

The newly elected members are president – Dalano Dasouza; vice president – Jamar Goodluck; secretary – Courtnae Bailey; assistant secretary/treasurer – Chris-Ann Mofford; treasurer – Ateikah Lockhart; cultural events and activities chairperson – Roxanne Butler; special projects manager – Kymberly Sardine; returning officer – Jael Browne; liason officer – Adrian Odle; welfare officer – Cyrilene Prescott; constitutional chairperson – Karissa Clarke; sports and games representative – Jamandi Thomas; and culinary arts chairperson – Brittney Shortte.

“The students expressed their excitement to be a part of such a prestigious association, as so many outstanding Vincentians in our history have been a part of VINSA and called the Cave Hill Campus their home away from home,” the release said. “The members…are looking forward to the support of the public in the coming months to help them in making VINSA’s name unforgettable for the year.”
