A newspaper report last weekend had indicated that the competition, which has opened carnival for several years, was cancelled this year because of CDC’s financial constraints.

The CDC, in an indication that the show was on, this week released the submission dates for entries from artistes to be selected for the competition.

The Calypso Association, in a release however, said the matter was of concern to some artistes and the general public, and it noted that there will be changes to the staging of this year’s competition.

Key among the changes will be the requirement that all artistes desirous of participating at any event organized by the Carnival Development Corporation or by the SVG Calypso Association must first pay to the association a registration fee of $30.00 prior to participation.

This fee must be paid to the office of the CDC on or before the day of preliminary judging.
