Last year, the regional beauty pageant was pushed up earlier in the programme of activities, as carnival organizers sought to reshuffle the events.
CDC chair Dennis Ambrose yesterday announced that the show would now take place on Friday, July 4.
Ambrose said that after discussions and recommendations during last yearâs carnival symposium, the decision was made to return the event to its previous fit, which he said is believed to be âmore satisfying to the majority of the general public.â
Chief executive officer of the CDC Ashford Wood pointed out during the press conference yesterday that the pageant this year would be held under the theme â29 years of exquisite pageantry.â
He said that to date, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica and Venezuela have expressed interest in participating, with a total of nine countries to be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
The reigning Miss Carival is Dominicaâs Leslassa Armour-Shillingford.
St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented by the winner of the 2014 Miss SVG pageant.
