The new board was elected at a special general meeting of the SVGCSI, which took place at the Ministry of Telecommunications conference room on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

The SVGCSI has once again elected Fitzroy O. Glasgow as president. The other members of the new board of directors are: Oronde Bomani Charles (vice president), Zita Barnwell (secretary) St Clair Stapleton (treasurer), five (5) sector-specific representatives: Dr Rosalind Ambrose, Monique Arthur, Fiona Pierre, Elsworth Richards and Bartholomew “Tubbs” Quammie, and Bernard Joseph (public relations officer).

Tuesday’s meeting was the second gathering of stakeholders in the services sector in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

As was the case at the previous meeting, the importance of the services sector and the need for a dynamic representative body of the sector, such as the SVGCSI, was emphasised at the meeting.

Brief remarks were given by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nathaniel Williams, who was very passionate about the assistance and support he is adamant that his Ministry would give to the organisation.

Both the president of the SVGCSI, and the Permanent Secretary welcomed the establishment of the organisation’s secretariat, which they believe will help to increase the momentum of its work.

The secretariat is located in the headquarters of Youth Business SVG at Arnos Vale, with its founder and managing director, Kenrick Quashie, as administrative head. Quashie is being assisted by business advisor Viviana Agamez Arango and project associate D’André Jackson.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Coalition of Service Industries, which was launched in 2008, is the representative body of local services organisations and providers.
