PM must come clean on Augustus matter – Eustace

Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace has announced he would formally write to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves this week requesting full disclosure of matters which led to the recall of deputy consul general at the New York Office, Edson Augustus.{{more}}

Eustace said he wanted the Prime Minister to “come clean on what Augustus did”, adding that Vincentians at home and abroad need to know.

He said he wanted the Prime Minister to state clearly that no others in his government were involved, since he does not believe that Augustus acted alone.

The Prime Minister’s Office, in announcing the recall of the deputy consul general, said he was involved in activities outside the scope of his employment and inimical to interests of the Consulate General and the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The announcement said “all matters touching and concerning the said activities are under further review”. Eustace has, however, dismissed the Government’s statement as insufficent for the Vincentian people.
